New York Laser & Aesthetics

New York City
By Robert Prince, Contributing Editor

At new York Laser and Aesthetics, the goal is to determine what the patient’s skin care needs are and reach the patient’s desired goal. The staff is educated and experienced in clinical skin care and spa treatments. new York Laser believes in educating our prospects and current patients on the anatomy and physiology of their skin as well as the physiology of their corrective treatments.

Many of their treatments are customized on an individual basis and cannot be duplicated anywhere else. nY Laser offers advanced treatments as well as skin care products to take home and maintain the improvements of the patient’s skin. When you walk into nYLA, you will not be greeted by a reception desk; you will be greeted by great scents and dim candles, with a low-stress, warm, and relaxing setting.

The waiting area resembles home. There is a big, soft leather couch with a flat screen T.V. and a beverage cart just in case you need a pick-me-up of hot tea or coffee. often expecting laser treatments or chemical peels for the first time can cause a bit of anxiety. nYLA wants their patients to feel comfortable and relaxed as in a spa-like environment, yet reap the benefits of stronger skin care treatments as in a clinical office.

NYLA combines laser and skin treatments with various ingredients and peels to offer a unique experience. The most popular services are combination Laser treatments. At nYLA a variety of lasers is offered, but their most popular is the YAG:1064 laser which is used in a variety of treatments. Hair removal has continued to be popular, but the staff is beginning to notice that there are more requests for vein treatments such as spider veins and telangiectasia on areas such as legs and the face.

When performing a vascular treatment, the staff consistently takes before-and-after pictures to document the progress from each treatment to the next. They treat on the conservative side the first visit. once they see how the patient reacts to the treatment, they then adjust the settings on the second visit. The staff also applies a substantial amount of cold
compresses afterwards and recommends compression on the area for 24 hours. This results in less bruising and better vascular absorption by the body.

Laser Genesis is a procedure utilizing noninvasive laser technology to safely and discretely treat fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture, diffuse redness and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment. nYLA offers a service they call the “Laser Peel.” The technician cleanses the skin thoroughly and performs the Laser Genesis procedure, followed with a layer of retinoic acid. This combination not only stimulates skin cell turnover, but also enhances the treatment due to the effects of retinoic acid. This treatment is performed with virtually no discomfort and is highly effective. The patient may have slight erythema on the treated area for no more than a couple hours. The skin will start to peel 24 - 48 hours after the treatment and can continue to peel up to 5 -7 days after the treatment. This is a great corrective treatment with few contraindications. only an experienced and licensed
practitioner should perform this treatment.
